THE PICTURE WAS LOST IN ACTION
You are mine, always, if ye will it or nay, if ye want me or nay. Mine, and I willna let ye go.
Diana Gabaldon Dragonfly in amber
Firstly, I am so sorry. I need to beg you for forgiveness and I hope I will get it. Graduating from the secondary school turned out to be too occupying to have any time for web activities. Now I am luckily one of the graduates and can effortlessly get back here.
I haven't read much recently but as a leisure occupation before my Matura exam, I opted for a non-committal book. Dragonfly in amber is actually the second volume of Gabaldon's saga. I decided to read that one because... yeah, to tell you the truth, I am just miserably in love with romances. Though there is one 'but'. I hate this sweet, dreamlike stories with prince riding a white horse. I don't buy it. Anyway, I'm keen on reading love stories, that is definitely my guilty pleasure. So in order to hush my conscience up, I always try to find somehow unique tales. If you are also that type of readers, I highly recommend you this books.
From the outset, I knew I would fall in love with that story. Jamie isn't probably the best character I had had a pleasure to get to know, I would change something in his behaviour, he is too envy and likely to hit a woman. I disrespect that. But apart from all that vices, he is also honourable, brave, caring, willing to sacrifice himself. The second volume is just a further story of this star-crossed couple. Jaime and Claire, Claire and Jaime. These two, however, are not the most significant part for me. Well, they are, that is their story. But the historical background is just like a cherry on the top of a huge, mouth-watering cake. Maybe I am not that obsessed with the history of Scotland, but, hi, these two volumes elicited a creation of a new dream of mine! Now apart from visiting Amsterdam, I would die to come round Edinburgh.
Back to the point, the rebellion of Scotch highlanders under the guidance of Charles Stuart... That was something. What's more, Claire knew how it was going to end, she was aware that these people would fight a losing battle, that they were non-starters, doomed to failure. And what did that knowledge give her? Just a weight on her soul.
It is hard to outline this story, it is just so complicated, it has so many threads. Too labyrinthine to be brought down to just a short review. I also wasn't really prepared to write this one for you, guys, I didn't truly think I would be here again. But here I am, screeving this note for you. I promise I would be more bona fide the next time, today I am going to leave you with this something. Consider reading this saga. It is not ambitious, but utterly worth the time.
See you soon.
